ERGO PROXY EPISODE 12: PLOT AND EXPLANATION

 

EPISODE 12 (WHEN YOU'RE SMILING / HIDEOUT)

Re-l gives Vincent’s necklace back. Pino sees that Vincent likes Re-l. Re-l follows the Rabbit using her UFO plane. They enter a ruin of a dome city. They park their vehicles there. Re-l asks Iggy to stay inside so he will not get infected by Pino.

Vincent frankly admits that he is a proxy. He tells Re-l that he killed two proxies. He tells her that he needs to go to Mosk to investigate the connection of his lost memory. Re-l admits that she is drawn to Vincent. Vincent confesses his love to Re-l. Re-l accidentally drops her FP gun. She kisses Vincent to distract him and hide the gun. Vincent sees a kid autoreiv steal some of his canned food. He chases and loses her. Re-l picks her gun back. The kid autoreiv brings the food for her master, an unnamed proxy who lives in a cave.

Iggy persuades Re-l to go back to Romdeau because they run out of fuel. Iggy ships Re-l with Daedalus probably because Daedalus saved him and Re-l. Re-l does not want to go back to Romdeau. She plans to stay with Vincent in the Rabbit.

Pino wanders around in the city ruin. The city is decayed and overgrown with wood. Some of the dome frames still stand, covered in moss. Pino meets the speechless kid autoreiv and follows her. The speechless autoreiv leads her to the waking cave proxy. Vincent proxy instinct kicks in.

Pino runs away screaming. Re-l hears harmonica noise. She runs to check. Iggy is left behind and sees Vincent with shining eyes jump over the Rabbit. Re-l meets a three time taller and bigger creature than her, the cave proxy. Vincent faces him and turns into Ergo. Ergo slaps the cave proxy causing him to hit the wall. Re-l sheds a tear remembering the time Ergo wiped her lip. Iggy catches Re-l up. Re-l aims her FP gun to the fighting proxies.

Ergo accidentally breaks the speechless autoreiv hand. He is distracted by the autoreiv. The cave proxy rages seeing that. Re-l shoots him in the heart right when he is about to hit Ergo. He falls and dies. Ergo half transforms into Vincent. The speechless autoreiv leaves them. With her trembling hands, Re-l aims FP guns to Ergo/Vincent and warns that she can kill him. Ergo smirks. His hands reach Re-l’s head, but stops by Vincent persona. Re-l says that she will come along with Vincent to find the truth about proxy. But she promises she will shoot him someday.

Iggy puts the cave proxy corpse in UFO plane glass tube. Re-l orders Iggy to go back to Romdeau and give the proxy to Daedalus. Re-l packs her suitcase. Iggy protests that Vincent is dangerous. Re-l cannot explain to Iggy why she wants to stay with Vincent so much. She argues that an autoreiv will not understand the things she does not understand herself. Re-l shuts Iggy’s Turing mode. Iggy clenches his fist marking his frustration.

Iggy flies with UFO. The speechless autoreiv follows Iggy’s flying plane. Re-l brings her suitcase to Vincent. The snow starts to fall.

Details and Easter Eggs:

• When Re-l aims at the cave proxy, she is cautious, but her grip is firm. When she aims at Ergo/Vincent her hands shake. She has a good gun control. It is clear that she does not want to shoot Ergo.

• This episode shows how far Re-l is willing to give everything to be with Vincent. She knows Vincent is dangerous, but she still wants to follow him.

• Re-l finds the truth that Vincent is the proxy she met in Romdeau. Yet, it does not answer her question: why is she so interested in the proxy matter so that she chases Vincent.
