EPISODE 3 (Leap into the Void / mazecity)
---SPOILER AHEAD---
![]() |
Proxy 301 departed to Mosk |
There are 2
persons in the train. The dark tall spiky haired is proxy One. Proxy One plants his memory while Vincent is unconscious. The tears
and pendant were proxy One’s. Ergo/Vincent gave back One’s pendant as he
renounced being a proxy. He left as Proxy One wept. We saw Ergo/Vincent's back
as he walked away toward a domed city with a mosque-like structure in the
middle. Then the missiles begin - the ones Donov Mayer fired to start the
assault on Mosk to get back Ergo/Vincent. The profile of the laughing/crying
character is proxy One, not Vincent. And then the narrator was knocked to the
ground and becomes Vincent (Vincent is awakening). He looks up to see the
shadow of proxy One as proxy One leaves the train. The train continues on and
Vincent is on the floor in the same position as when he was knocked down in his
dream.
Vincent survives
the encounter with Monad and finds her blood in his
hand. He
killed Monad for defence. He
does not remember that he loves her. Raul is in his house, playing the piano
that Pino used to play. He expresses his anger when he is alone. Vincent looks
for his autoreiv, Dorothy, in his office. He finds Dorothy severely broken. This
is probably Raul’s doing to frame Vincent and gives Raul reason to capture him.
Knowing he is being framed, Vincent runs to avoid the
armed
autoreivs that are
shooting at him. He steals some ammunition from the office and escapes.
Raul is demanded by the Regent to capture Monad immediately regardless he just lost his family. Pino escapes the Disposal Unit’s pursuit and meets Vincent. They both follow infected autoreiv escape route. Vincent knows the route from his previously captured infected autoreivs. Pino falls and almost makes herself get caught by the patrol. Luckily, Vincent saves her. Pino steals Vincent phone and receives Re-l call. Vincent tries to explain that he is being framed to Re-l. Re-l hears train voices in Vincent’s background and figures out he is escaping Romdeau through plug vent. Vincent throws his phone away.
Vincent gets lost in searching the way. Pino confidently guides him. They get back where Vincent receives the call and throws his phone. They meet Re-l who then confronts Vincent about his (proxy) necklace. The Security Bureau officers and Iggy find them. Vincent thinks Re-l rats him. Without anyone noticing, Pino opens the vent plug. The leaked air pressure drags them. Iggy saves Re-l, but Vincent is sucked out. Pino catches up Vincent out, bringing along his bag of ammo. Vincent gives up his hold on the railing and falls down. By the look of his green eyes, he unconsciously activates proxy mode. The vent is closed to avoid the dome contamination of the outside toxic air.
Details and Easter Eggs:
Proxy One laughs and cries when he destroyed other domes. He is sad to destroy a creation but he needs to get his revenge.
The episode is the first time they put the intro. The intro contains spoiler when Vincent shifts to Ergo. It also tells that Re-l is not the only main character.
Pino brings Vincent’s bag without effort. Even though she is small autoreiv, she can handle heavy things.
In 17.44, the Collective is discussing Re-l. In dome cities, every citizen is genetically crafted and educated to have specific characteristics to complete the city cog wheels. However, Re-l is not supposed to be that perceptive. The Health Bureau miscalculated when they made Re-l’s pre-arrange model. The did not know that Monad’s human clone also has dynamic energy that makes the said clone so interested in proxy. The Regent tries to suppress her sensitivity through lecturing her every night and using Iggy. Donov’s plan to have controllable bait for Ergo/Vincent does not go smoothly.
Vincent closes his eyes all the time. It metaphorically states that he is ignorant of the city system and becomes a slave to acquire citizenship. In later episodes, he almost never closes his eyes and gains new knowledge of proxies, the earth condition and space human.
Pino and Vincent escape is a reference of Alice in Wonderland. Pino is the rabbit who guides Vincent as Alice.
