ERGO PROXY MAIN STORY

Vincent meets Re-l for the first time while he is looking for a job as new comer immigrant. He is automatically infatuated to Re-l, not knowing because Re-l is Monad clone. Vincent gets a job in Disposal Unit in hope to become Romdeau fellow citizen. One of his duties is hunting infected autoreiv. Re-l works as an Intelligence Bureau agent. One of her jobs is to investigate immigrants like Vincent before they become fellow citizens.

The nature heals. The space human is ready to come back to earth. The pulse of awakening is initiated. All proxies feel or hear the pulse. Even the unconscious Monad suddenly wakes up even though she is sedated. She flees the research facility, goes berserk and kills people. Proxy One comes back to Romdeau to prepare his revenge tool, Ergo/Vincent.

Re-l finds awakening mark left by proxy One in her bathroom. Vincent unconsciously transforms into Ergo and crashes into Re-l’s bathroom. He is drawn into her because he senses Monad in Re-l. Ergo seems fascinated by Re-l, not knowing that she is what Ergo wanted to become: a human without the proxy side. Monad also lands in Re-l’s bathroom following of her intuition to be with Ergo. Ergo/Vincent is surprised thus becomes defensive and fights Monad. Monad’s pendant falls in the bathroom and later is found by Re-l.

The day after, Monad keeps pursuing Vincent through the mall. She kills many people, including Raul’s family during the pursuit. Pino is infected after her contact with Monad. Raul becomes obsessed with Vincent. Vincent/Ergo unconsciously kills Monad. He does not even remember that she is his lover.

Vincent decides to leave Romdeau knowing somebody frames him for destroying Dorothy. Pino helps him escape. Re-l fails to prevent Vincent leaving. She becomes more obsessed to Vincent since she meets Vincent in Ergo form.

Vincent is found by Hoody. He lives in the Commune for a while. Re-l visits Vincent in the Commune. Vincent sends her back to Romdeau because she is infected with toxic air. Re-l is cured by Amrita mimetic cell transfusion. Vincent leaves the Commune with Pino using the Rabbit after Raul sends troops to hunt him. He is going to Mosk to investigate his origin.

Proxy One follows Vincent to Mosk and manipulates him. Along his way to Mosk, Vincent meets several proxies. They all have gone mad because of loneliness, frustrated to their creation and the awakening. Vincent manages to kill them following his proxy instinct.

Re-l finds out about wombsys and proxy from Daedalus. Her grandfather tries to kill her because she is too nosy and breaking rules. Daedalus covers her death. She leaves Romdeau to chase Vincent. Re-l finds Vincent after the bookstore proxy haunts Vincent. Bookstore proxy and proxy One conspire to make Vincent accept his fate as Ergo proxy. Vincent continues the journey with Pino and Re-l. During the journey, the trio becomes solid. Vincent and Re-l relationship improves so much.

Proxy One arrives at Mosk before Vincent. He destroys Amnesia so that Vincent cannot regain his memory yet. One does not want Vincent to run away again. The trio finds the message awakening and proxy One necklace. They decide to go back to Romdeau.

Meanwhile, in Romdeau, the city starts to crumble without a proxy. Wombys, the artificial womb, stops working. The Regent, Donov Mayer, gives up. Raul does not want to give up. He starts ADW project to remodel pseudo human to be fertile. ADW project is a total failure. It only results in killing 90% citizens. Daedalus has started to crack since Re-l leaves for Vincent. He creates another Re-l. This time is the true clone of Monad who is named as Real Mayer. Real has Monad’s soul and memory.

Upon the trio’s arrival back in Romdeau, Vincent gains most of his memory back. He leaves Re-l and Pino because he remembers the burden. Re-l goes to search for Vincent. Pino goes inside later. The trio is separated. Romdeau is in chaos. Most of autoreivs are infected. The war between human and autoreivs occurs. Vincent sees Monad remains. He remembers and regrets killing her. He meets Real there.

Re-l finds out about the Rapture and ADW. Re-l goes to the Regent chamber. Proxy One kills Donov in front of Re-l. Re-l thinks that he is Vincent. One leaves the chamber. He wants to turn Vincent and Re-l against each other to stop Vincent’s dependence on Re-l so he can become Ergo. Vincent enters the chamber. He is surprised to see Donov died. Re-l figures out that someone is manipulating them. Proxy One reveals himself. Re-l leaves them to check the city control. One provokes Vincent to fight.

Daedalus finds Real and Raul. Raul is wounded by Real after he threatens to kill Vincent. Daedalus is in despair that Re-l and Real do not love him back. Proxy One manipulates Raul and Daedalus to destroy Romdeau. Daedalus destroys the dome life support.

Re-l checks the city control. Romdeau is totally falling. It cannot be saved. She sees Daedalus there. Daedalus is crushed by falling debris, and then dies. Daedalus shows Re-l a way out of the dome. Re-l leaves him. Real becomes full Monad then flies to find Vincent. She finds One and Vincent fighting. One is fatally wounded and dying. Real/Monad takes Vincent to fly. She wants to end Vincent’s suffering by dying together under the sun.

Vincent remembers Re-l. He does not want to forget anymore. He wants to live with Re-l. He gives back Monad’s pendant and descents. Real/Monad flies to the sun and perishes to fulfill her raison d’etre. One is pleased that Vincent returns. One gives Vincent his pendant. Vincent accepts the pendant, the proxy duty to re-shape the world and the agent of death duty. One dies from the wound and sunlight. Vincent survives because his pulse of awakening is broken by One’s death. One and Vincent share only a pulse because they are a whole. Vincent loses his pulse of awakening thus his Amrita cells is back to normal, immune to sunlight.

Re-l manages to get out of the dome. She hangs on the railing. Pino catches her. Kristeva is there to protect Pino following Raul’s wish. These three persons go to pick up Vincent. The original human airships are seen approaching. Along with Re-l, Pino and other survivors, Vincent is ready to face them. The plan A, Boomerang Project, is messed up: many domes are destroyed, autoreivs are infected and a proxy survives.

The story above is a summary of the main event. Of course it cannot convey all the chronology, causality and the characters’ psychology.
