EPISODE 17 (NEVER-ENDING BATTLE / TERRA INCOGNITA)
---SPOILER AHEAD---
The trio rests
their journey. Re-l develops a better attitude
towards Pino. The trio becomes solid. Vincent makes Re-l agree to kill him if
Vincent loses himself.
Pino wanders
around without Vincent and Re-l notices. Vincent and Re-l looks for Pino. They
find a cave. In the cave mouth, there are dead pale hairy creatures with a big
brain. They hear a piano
playing inside the cave. They find Pino playing piano in
human civilization ruin. A young creature observes them. The creature is
degraded that he does not respond to language.
Vincent and Re-l
follow the cave deeper. At the deepest point, they find many more of the
creatures. They are the original human left by Boomerang Project. They mutated
to adapt the cave toxic gas while waited for outside air to clear out. They
become weak, degraded and asocial because of the gas. They mutated until they
can only breathe the toxic gas. Breathing the outside air even though the air
is already clean will kill them. The cave gas actually slowly kills them,
but they cannot get out.
The trio is
followed by the young creature while they make their way out of the cave. They
put the young mutated human back inside the cave. He is picked up by his
pregnant mother. Re-l finds cave painting describing natural pregnancy. These
mutated humans are fertile.
The Wombsys in Romdeau
is off. Daedalus and Raul realize Romdeau will not last long without a proxy. Daedalus
blames Raul for the lost proxy (Vincent) in Romdeau. Daedalus also starts to
crack. He talks to
Re-l’s picture.
Raul’s mind is consumed by his resentment towards Vincent. He sees Vincent illusions smirking and mocking him. Raul confronts the Regent about the outside healing nature. He knows that the Regent holds the citizens like prisoners inside the dome. He is angry that the Regent ignores that they are sterile and on the verge of extinction. He has enough with the Regent passive attitude.
Kristeva is appointed as the Security Bureau Chief, replacing Raul. Raul becomes a fugitive after he insults the Regent. Raul is capable to avoid the pursuit. He misleads Kristeva to the Rapture control chamber. Raul knew he would be fired. He has set missile launch timer. His citizenship deletion triggers system lockout. Missiles are launched from Romdeau. Kristeva cannot abort the launch. The trio sees missiles flying to Mosk. Raul wants to revenge Vincent by launching missiles to Mosk for stealing Romdeau life and his family.
Details and Easter Eggs:
- Raul citizen
number ends with 666. The number symbolizes antichrist. Raul is anti God/anti
proxy. He denies the reliance on proxy to provide lives.
- As his name suggests, Raul Creed is designed to be a model citizen. To establish Romdeau rules and order is his raison d’etre. Raul drops his ID symbolizes he drops one of his raison d’etre. He keeps fighting because he needs to establish order above Romdeau chaos.
- The episode
shows the parallelism between Pino and Raul. They are driven
by their emotions.
Back then in
the early episode, Raul jokes that he is infected with Cogito. While Pino gains
her soul through love, Raul gains his soul through despair and hate.
- The cave reflects
Romdeau’s fate. They are accustomed to the norms they live in. Even though the
norms are slowly killing them at a certain
time. They cannot get out because getting out means death. Romdeau citizens
cannot get out of the dome as well because they do not know how to survive
outside.
- The young mutated human is Raul’s parallelism. They do not accept their fate to extinct. They try their hardest to get out of the situation even if it makes them dying.
- The Security Bureau Chiefs never finish their term because they always find the truth that Romdeau is fragile from extinction. It is against their duty to keep Romdeau safe. Romdeau can never be safe if they are sterile and rely on proxy. They become emotional learning the matter.
- Rapture is the thermonuclear missiles used by Donov Mayer to assault Mosk.
