Vincent has gone
far from Romdeau dome. It is tundra all around. One
by one, his companions are dead. They cannot stand the cold and starvation.
Only Vincent and Pino survive in the journey.
The Collective cannot feel Monad in Romdeau anymore. They think that she left. The Collective does
not want to answer Raul’s question about why they let Re-l to go back to
Romdeau after she broke many regulations. They do not
want to reveal that Re-l is important to draw Ergo back.
Re-l wakes up in
Health Bureau bed.
Re-l quickly heals. She is cautious. Probably she does not realize how she got
there. She finds monstrous proxy (Monad) print in the facility. Re-l realizes
Daedalus knows the proxy matter all this time. She runs away and enters Wombsys
(artificial womb) chamber. The Wombsys is still on. Proxy
One probably is still in Romdeau.
Re-l comes to
her grandfather’s
chamber. She confronts him about his lies. People in Romdeau are told that they
cannot live outside the dome. The Regent is a dictator who holds the citizens
inside the dome without telling that the nature is healing.
Daedalus gives Iggy back to Re-l. He also cut Iggy’s connection, thus Iggy is no longer the Regent’s spy tool. Then he proceeds keep his promise to explain his findings of Monad corpse to Re-l. He only explains that Monad is immortal God or city life-force that was stolen from Mosk.
A bunch of infected autoreivs enter Daedalus office. They are sent by Donov Mayer to kill Re-l. Iggy fights them to defend Re-l. Daedalus and Re-l thinks that they are sent by Raul. An autoreiv manages to injure Re-l. Her blood splatters on the floor. Daedalus writes Re-l death certificate.
Re-l citizen number is taken from Hugo Gernsback sci-fi novel. Re-l 124C41+ is a wordplay which is read as Re-l one to foresee for one another. It states Re-l perceptiveness to see the truth that others cannot see, the future. It also foreshadows the role of Re-l as a heroine who saves Vincent the hero.
Re-l is quickly recovered because Daedalus gives her bio-mimetic Amrita cells. Biomimetic materials are materials developed using inspiration from nature. Probably it mimics the quality of Amrita cells like healing quickly.
Raul grows more independent and less scared to the Regent. He pursues his own goal.
The Wombsys is a place where citizens are genetically cultivated to be Romdeau cog wheels. The population and social program is kept in certain level to maintain Romdeau continuity.
Re-l and Daeudalus use the term God refers to proxy / Monad. They know that proxy provides life for them.
Daedalus comments ‘couldn’t help yourself’ when Re-l is wondering why she is so interested in proxy matter. Daedalus actually knows that is because she is set to have maximum curiosity. To find the truth is Re-l’s raison d’etre. Monad is a basic unit of perceptual reality in the book of philosophy Monadology by Gottfried Leibniz. As Monad’s partial clone, Re-l has the quality to perceive reality.
From Re-l’s statement, it is an accepted popular knowledge that citizens are produced in Wombsys in Romdeau. But from her reaction, it can be concluded that Wombsys is very secret, not even an elite citizen like Re-l ever saw it before.
It is the first time we hear Re-l says sorry. Despite her stubbornness, she feels family connection with the Regent.
Vincent cannot answer Pino’s question about how Mosk is like. It is because he has only been there for memory removal. He never lived there so he does not have memory of Mosk.
- Iggy touches infected autoreivs when he fights them. The Cogito virus can spread via autoreivs. Iggy now is infected.
